TAKING CARE OF OUR SOULS LIVING A HARMONIOUS LIFE WITH OURSELVES AND OTHERS

Couple's Therapy

Sessions where both members of the couple and the therapist participate, usually of one hour duration, on a weekly basis. In couple's therapy, a context of understanding and trust is provided that facilitates the couple's communication and problem-solving skills. The ultimate goal is for the couple to receive greater satisfaction from the marital relationship.

  • Difficult, non-satisfactory or lack of communication between the couple’s members
  • Lack of affection or feeling of estrangement between the couple’s members
  • Specific problems that hinder the couple's daily functioning and feelings of satisfaction
  • Fights or abusive behavior
  • Problematic relations with the extended family
  • "Lost" aspirations / dreams, false expectations and existential preoccupations that appear after marriage
  • Procreation related anxieties
  • Parental role and child-upbringing related anxieties
  • Lack or problematic sexual contact

All of the above along with anything else that preoccupies one or both members of the couple can be discussed and processed in couple's therapy. The couple is facilitated in setting clear psychotherapeutic goals that the therapy will aim to achieve. Some couples come under crisis in their marriage and the therapy goal is to revive the relationship and "save their marriage". Other couples might use the therapy space for planning and implementing a divorce. This might entail the couple using the sessions for communicating their thoughts and feelings or the practicalities around a divorce, their anxieties related to their children (if any), financial issues etc.
